Es una tinta soluble en agua que contiene una combinación de tanino, un componente vegetal presente en las hojas de té, y hierro. Estos materiales se oxidan al exponerse al aire, lo que les confiere resistencia al agua y a la luz para una mayor durabilidad. El proceso de oxidación también provoca un cambio de color, transformando gradualmente el color vivo de la tinta en un tono negruzco más intenso con el tiempo. [Precauciones al usar tinta ferrogálica]
Al igual que con la tinta para pluma estilográfica común, lave bien su pluma al cambiarla.
Si quedan manchas en su pluma o convertidor, disuelva un poco de vinagre en un vaso de agua y remoje la zona manchada.
Aunque no debería haber problema si deja tinta ferrogálica en su pluma, le recomendamos limpiarla periódicamente. Si no la va a usar durante un período prolongado, le sugerimos vaciar la tinta y guardarla limpia.
